About Amanda
I recall being captivated by the field of psychology when I took my very first psychology course as an elective class, in my senior year of high school. I had always been interested in the human mind, and was fascinated by my introductory course in this field of study. I decided to continue my studies at New York University, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, with a concentration in Psychology. At NYU, my courses exposed me to the different aspects of human experience and functioning, and allowed me to develop a broad grasp of the current clinical theory within the field. After receiving my B.A., I attended a graduate program at Pepperdine University, where I deepened my knowledge in clinical psychology. In graduate school I acquired the skills necessary to work effectively with individuals, couples, children, and families, with a variety of clinical issues. I also developed a high level of ethical standards, and increased my knowledge of the professional role of a therapist. I obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy from Pepperdine University, graduating with honors, Summa Cum Laude.
I began my work as a therapist trainee at CLARE Foundation in 2013. CLARE Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides treatment and recovery services for clients struggling with alcoholism or substance use problems in Santa Monica, California. I continued my work as an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, providing psychotherapy to CLARE’s residential and outpatient clients through 2018. At CLARE Foundation, I gained valuable experience in working with individual clients, groups, couples, and families, treating a wide range of clinical needs. I also gained clinical experience working with adolescents, in my role as a Prevention Specialist, at CLARE. As a Prevention Specialist, I worked with at-risk youth and their families around the city of Santa Monica. I provided weekly psychotherapy and education services to middle school and high school students that were at-risk, or currently struggling with substance use.
My education and experience have provided me with the skills necessary to be a highly effective therapist. Today, I devote my time to seeing clients in a private practice setting. In my practice, I most frequently see individuals struggling with anxiety, self-esteem issues, depression, substance abuse problems, grief, trauma, anger management issues, relationship issues, as well as more serious mental illness. I have a warm personal style, with a non-judgmental and compassionate attitude. My approach as a clinician is integrative, collaborative, and strength-based. It is my belief that each and every client is unique, therefore I attempt to tailor the therapeutic experience to each individual and his or her needs. I strive to uncover each client’s values, strengths, and abilities in order to facilitate growth and assist them in overcoming their problems. I uphold all legal and ethical standards, including the confidentiality of every client.
Whether you are hoping to find relief for a problem you are experiencing, or are seeking assistance with your personal growth and development, I can help. I’d be happy to work with you in developing meaningful, positive, and long-lasting change to improve the quality of your life.
